1873 Columbia @ Yale College Football Program
This rare two-page fold-over style college football program is from Nov. 22, 1873, when Yale hosted Columbia at Hamilton Park, which was just Yale’s 4th game ever played & Columbia’s 9th game ever played. The program has pre-printed line-ups on the inside, and the program measures 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches. This program originated from Ed Clarke’s scrapbook (an 1876 Yale graduate), which preserved this remarkable gem, with the only flaw being some faint glue residue on the back near the spine, along with a 1/2-inch split on the bottom of the spine. Until the recent past, the oldest known college football program was from Dec. 6, 1873, which is housed in the college football Hall of Fame, but as of now, this is the 4th oldest known college football program.
